Witnessing an Insurrection

The truth cannot be unseen.

Witnessing an Insurrection

January 6, 2021, was a nightmare and, despite our numbness, an inflection point politically. One of the two political parties turned the public square into a raging inferno: an untethered demagogue hellbent on seizing power, a violent and heavily-armed mob of insurrectionists claiming a "patriot" cause, widespread organizational failure (what group is responsible for what), maddening institutional and personal cowardice, last-hope military units mobilizing for battle on American streets and in American buildings, and so on.

It's not worth debating the gravity of 1/6/21 with those who refuse to see it, but the images from that day are a jarring reminder and every bit as shocking two years later.
